Cooley Godward Kronish Announces Diversity Fellowship Program

Cooley Godward Kronish LLP is proud to announce that it has established a Diversity Fellowship Program for first-year law students, as part of the Firm’s overall commitment to attract, mentor and retain exceptional and diverse attorneys. The application is accessible at www.cooley.com/diversityfellowship. For 1L students in the 2007-2008 school year, applications must be received by March 15, 2008.

Through the program, Cooley will award up to $15,000 annually to eight first-year students to assist with law school tuition. Each fellow will also receive an invitation to join Cooley’s summer associate program. Awards will be announced to the students in the summer following their first year of law school with the summer associate position to start following the successful completion of the recipients’ second year of law school.

Eligibility

• Personal diversity in terms of ethnicity, gender, physical disability and/or sexual orientation
• Enrolled full-time in an ABA accredited law school and in the 1L year at time of application
• Sincere interest in joining the Firm's Summer Associate Program following the applicant's 2L year
• Not a recipient of a similar diversity award from another law firm for the same time period

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be selected based on consideration of the following factors:

• Commitment to promoting goals of diversity
• Academic performance
• Personal achievements
• Leadership abilities
• Community service
• Demonstrated interest in joining the Cooley Godward Kronish Summer Associate Program
• Application ProcessApplications must include:
• A completed application form
• A brief personal statement
• A current resume
• Law school transcript
• Undergraduate transcript

Applicants may also submit the following optional materials:

• Up to two letters of recommendation
• Up to three references
• A legal writing sample
